Jerry Savage

LTC Jerry Savage (Ret.)

Jerry began wood working in the mid 1990's and continued to refine his skills by crafting custom small furniture projects and gift items for his family and friends. During a deployment to Soto Cano, Honduras in 2009, he had the opportunity to learn woodcarving from a master Honduran wood carver who was employed at the Post Wood Shop.

Jerry retired from the US Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2012 after a nearly 30 year career. He says that starting his career as a private and progressing to the ranks of Lieutenant Colonel has allowed him to fully understand and appreciate what every service member during and after service.

Since retirement, he has pursued his passion for carving full time. He says his favorite medium yo work in is basswood, but he has carved in most common US woods and some more exotic materials. he enjoys carving from photos he takes himself or those provided by customers.
